The Swedish Election

I feel that I have to comment the Swedish election this year. Sweden have since 1979 have to great parties in the pairlament. The Social Democrats to the left, and the Moderates to the right. Along with other smaller parties, those two have been the biggest. Since 1982, these two parties have swifted to power. Most often the social democrats have been in charge, but some years even the moderates have been in charge.

2010, a new party got over 4 percent of the votes and therefore entered the pairlament. The party is called Sweden Democrats. Known for their opposition against immigration and racist scandals and islamophobia through the years, the party was also founden by nazis in 1988. The Sweden democrats were dominated by nazi policied back then, and one of the founder was an old Swedish volontaire in Waffen SS during world war two. The Sweden Democrats spread horror on the streets, targeting immigrants and had a vision to send out all the immigrants and their children with a citizenship recieved after 1979. They also favored death penalty and shared an antisemitic rhetoric, with a vision of a white Sweden.

In 1995, the party got a new party leader. He had an ambition to clean the party from nazi ascisiations, by forbidding nazi uniforms for example. After that, the Sweden Democrats started to moderate themselves and tone down their racist rhetoric. They let their hair grow back and replaced the nazi jackets with suits and ties. In the 2000’s, the party adjusted their ideology and approach even more to hide their racist agenda and gained more and more popularity.

No other country in the world after 1945 has ever had a party with nazi roots to grow so pupular. In this election, on the 11th of september in 2022, something happened. The Sweden Democrats gained over 20 percent of the votes and took the Moderates place as the second biggest party in Sweden. This is a result of the last ten years of normalisation of racism, where almost all the parties in the pairlament have adapted a lot of the Sweden Democratic rhetoric and policied. Parties that promised just a few years ago, not to work together with the Sweden Democrats, suddenly do. At the same time, the media are giving the Sweden Democrats exactly what they want, by reporting news more according to the Sweden Democratic agenda. Many journalists and other politicians are getting hatestorms and threats for critisizing the party, thanks to a lot of the people that support the party. Recently, a newspaper revealed that the Sweden Democrats have people working for them, who get paid to start hatestorms against people. These internet warriors are paid and takes order from the party leader himself – Jimmie Åkesson.

But people don’t care anymore. The last years, the Sweden Democrats have radicalized and returned a bit more to their roots. They know they can do that, because their support from the people has become so big that people don’t care anymore. They talk about repatriation, a racist idea they abandoned already in the early 2000’s. They are getting a lot more confident and aggresissive. At the same time we have the Moderates and the right wing parties who are more and more redicalized in order to cooperate with the Sweden Democrats. 8 years of Social Democratic government is at an end and a new horrifying era has begun in Sweden. May God forgive us for our ignorance and save the country from this disaster.

6th of June

The 6th of June is the National Day of Sweden. I am very proud to be Swedish and have always been and I think that Sweden is the best country in the world. But still we have problems of course, as in any other countries. One of them is our lack of national pride.

Half of the Swedish population consider nationalism as an negative word. A lot of people in Sweden are angry. And a lot of these angry people seems to be completely convinced that the Swedish traditions are at risque, due to immigration. And every year, on the national day, and christmas, off course, it is the same arguments over and over. We are not allowed to celebrate the National Day in schools anymore, because that will insult the immigrants. They have completely forgotten the fact, that all Swedes are free at school on our nationalday, since it was made a holy day, in year 2005. They also claim that they are not allowed to use the flag or celebrate the national day without being called a racist.

Off course all of this is bullshit. I’ve never heard of any person being called racist for using the Swedish flag or singing the National anthem. However, in Sweden, people are in generel very bad at embracing their our traditions. They claim that our traditions are threatened, but they don’t even manage to actualy prepare and celebrate it. Christmas is threatened, they say. No, it’s not. You just have to move your ass from the chair and buy a Christmas tree, some goodamn sour fish and give away present to your family and make it comfortable with candles at home. There you have your Swedish christmas. You should not blame immigrants for your own lack of will to celebrate a Swedish tradition in a proper manner.

Off course, our Swedish traditions will not dissapear just because immigrants comes. And my opinion is that every person in his own house decide the tradition of his own. But let’s not forget the fact that Swedes are amongs the peoples in Europe that have the most lack knowledge of our own history. Many of us, can’t answer the question why we are even celebrating our national day. But I can tell you. We celebrate the day when the Gustav Vasa became the king of Sweden, in the 6th of june in 1523. After that, Sweden was formed as a national state and decades of civil war and Danish accupation was over.

But not many know what an evil and brutal king Gustav Vasa actually was in reality. He was completely glorified by the nationalistic policies that influenced our schools and history education in the early 1900’s. And the picture of Vasa as a hero who defeated the Danish occupation forces and founded Sweden, is just pure glorification that still affects our image of this old king.

Anyway, I think we have the right to be proud Swedes, no matter how our ancestors behaved. What makes me a proud Swede is the fact that our welfare system in the 1900’s, developed to one of the most advanced in the world. Sweden went from one of the world’s poorest countries to some of the richest. And that a lot thanks to socialists and social democrats and left wing powers who worked together and fought for the people’s rights. A welfare system that has been an isnpiration to other western nations and that unfortunately, is under attack, by the right wing powers. That’s my opinion about it anyway.

The Racist History Of The N-Word

As I have told you before, I live in Sweden. The N-word is by most people, I hope, viewed as a racist word here in Sweden, just as in the USA. But there are some differences. In USA, for example, it is almost impossible for a white person to even quote a person who used the N-word. In the US, you can’t say: “Mom, he said nigger!” You have to say “Mom, he said the N-word.” But here in Sweden most people make a difference between a quote and an active use of the N-word. So if you have trouble with the word in my text, remember that it’s in a quote or that I must use it in order to make my text understandable.

So, where does this racist word come from? Well, the Swedish historican Dick Harrisson, writes in the SvD, in the 30th of April 2011 that the word have a complex history. Well, it’s easy to see what it came from. The word “niger” is Latin and means black. There is a similar word in Spanish, “negro” which also means black. Spanish is a roman-italic language, and come from latin. So, one can say that the etmylogical roots of the N-word is just a color, and therefore neutral in it’s youth. When the white man started to conqour America and Africa, they took the black inhabitants as slaves and bought them to the cotton plantages of the American South. We all know this story very well. The black slaves were sold, beaten and treated very badly by their masters and owners and it would take a great civil war to end the miserable slave market in 1865.

Among the black slaves, the word “nigger” was used among them, both in a positive and pejorative way. They used to refer to their fellow slaves as “nigger”, which in that case meant “guy” or “dude”. For example, when they organised themselves, they called it “nigger meating” and they even called their baracks “nigger baracks”. This was in the early 1800’s. Still, white people did not use the word. Before 1865, rich slave masters did not commonly use the N-word. They thought it was too vulgar. But the N-word had already become a racial slur amongs the common farmers on the countryside, used to humiliate black people. But later in the 1800’s, even the rich farmers and masters started to use the N-word, to humiliate their slaves and remind them of what they were – nothing…

After the civil war, we know that slavery was formally prohibited, but the black people were still not free. When they were not serving their former masters, they had to take poorly paid jobs from day to day, appear in freakshows and circus performances of different sort. In the south, the systematic segregation and discrimination was completely legal til 1964, when the Civil Rights Act was implemented. But it would take long time before the race unequalities to disappear. Still today, black people, especially in the South, have problems with racism in court, crime, drugs and poverty and other forms of segregation and social injustice. Still, after almost 150 years, the black people are still not free.

The N-word lived on everywhere, in cartoons, in comic books and on TV-shows. When rap music and hiphop was introduced in the 80’s and 90s, black people started to embrace the N-word and use it amongs themselves in music and rap-culture. Some claim that they wanted to reclaim the word from white people and use it, only amongs themselves. The N-word still today appears a lot in black rap and hiphop.

Here in Sweden, we have had a discussion for a long time about a similar word – “Neger”. Actually I think we are the only country, where this debate even exist. Back in the days, we used to call a special chocolate cookie “negerboll”, which means “negro ball” or “niggerball”. Then some of us started to question this word and call it chocolate ball instead. Some white folks became furious, and some of them still are, they see it as their right to use the term “negerboll”, just because they grew up with this word and claim it as a tradition. As a Swede, I am ashamed of this. Imagine a white person in America, claiming his right to say “niggerball”. He wouldn’t live very long for sure. But here in Sweden, this discussion actually exist, and it’s just pathetic.
